Major General Hatami: Iran prepared to fight for generations to defend homeland

TEHRAN — Iranian Army Commander-in-Chief Major General Amir Hatami said on Monday that the Iranian nation is prepared to fight for generations to come to prevent foreign adversaries from reshaping their homeland.

“We will fight even for the [next] 10 or 20 generations,” and will not allow Iran to be undermined, General Hatami said.

He said using force is the only way to “make the enemy understand that it cannot do whatever it wants”.  Hatami emphasized that enemies, above all the United States and Israel, have not stopped hatching plots against Iran, even though they failed to attain their goals in the latest unprovoked war of aggression against the country.  “The enemy should realize that Iran will not be a testing ground for its schemes and adventures,” General Hatami said.

He stressed that the Iranian Armed Forces are closely monitoring the enemies’ plans, from short- to long-term, reiterating that they are “prepared for any possible scenario.

“The Armed Forces, with faith in Islam, experience, readiness, and the wholehearted support of the noble Iranian nation, will resolutely respond to any aggression and authoritatively defend the independence, territorial integrity, and security of the country,” the top commander said.

“We must rout the enemy and leave a fairly bitter taste of defeat in its mouth. It is then time for the enemy to understand that Iran is not a spot where it can step in and declare an intention to reshape the country’s map,” Hatami noted.

On February 28, Israel and the US launched a war on Iran. On the first day of the war, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with military commanders, were martyred. Within hours, Iran began its retaliatory missile and drone strikes against Israel and US bases and assets across the region. Iran’s strong military response prompted President Donald Trump to call for a ceasefire, which went into effect on April 8.
